Smokes great but falls apart
They changed the design of the legs getting rid of an attachment point so now the grill falls over whenever you touch it. The legs only attach at one spot so they swivel and the drip pan just rests in the middle providing very little support. If you plan to never move this grill ever it’s great however even moving it 2ft to the side is a 30-40min process to reattach the legs.

Really well made. Have had a couple years and really enjoy using it. Very easy to use and get set up. Once you get the temp set it holds the temperature well.

Bought a new Smokey Mountain to replace our 15-20ish year version. (It still works, but not perfectly - giving it to son.) Biggest noticeable improvements are a deeper water pan and a built-in thermometer- both really good improvements! So far, we smoked 3 pork butts, salmon & some chicken wings - all good! Smoker does not run as hot as previous version, so wood & charcoal last longer.

Lower tech is still awesome tech. The original design of this model is still on point. The water pan is a critical part on startup to smoking/cooking. Keep an eye on the water level to keep up humidity inside and temp moderation stable. I recently top racked three bone in turkey breasts. Brined and rubbed. The cooking instructions/briquette/charcoal consumption is an important reference table. You really do need close to 100 blocks for poultry (and the fact I had 22nd of meat). Starting with the Weber chimney, and letting a good base of coals to develop takes 25-30 mins ideally, before the middle ring is placed on the base. Don’t rush your coals. Using two Weber chimneys would speed things up. Smoke wood consumption is low. 4-5 chunks of applewood was plenty. My cooking time was shorter than anticipated, birds were perfect. Use a meat thermometer. The mounted dome thermometer is accurate!

Good quality, works well 5/5, but... The customer service doesn't exist. The grill came with a missing handle screw, I opened a ticket with Weber, got no response for a month.

So for it smokes great and easy to control the temperature. The 18 inch was the only size I could find locally and I almost wished I had ordered the 22 because it has a larger cook surface. Everything I smoke on it tasted awesome.

For what i paid for this smoker i really cant complain. I picked it up on a clearance sale. I was looking at the 22 inch model instead, but for less then half of the price I went with this one and I am not disappointed. It was well packaged and easy to put together, took about 30 mins with the help of my boy. It was just easier to have a little help. I fired it a couple days later for the first time. I used a chimney starter about half full over a almost full basket of coals, poured in the water, (2-1/2gallons) adjusted the vents like the manual said and it went right to temp in about 15 mins. I was really surprised by that. Put a 6 or 7pound pork butt on and put a couple probes in, one in the meat the other on the grate. This smoker held temp over the next 8 hour or with little adjustment. The probe on the grate and the on gauge on the lid didnt very from one to the other by very much. When done i still had plenty of coals left and the water bowl was still half full. I figured i could have have cooked for several more hours without adding to either. Which leads to the only thing that might be a bit difficult to do is to add water. The side door isnt quite high enough to get water in the pan, unless you open the lid and pour it from the top which the you loose heat, and have to pour around what you cooking or take it out. I guess ill cross that bridge when i come to it. Meat came out falling apart and juicy. I cant wait till i have time to put it in use again. Over all a very well built smoker that's easy to use and produces results that even a novice or pro would be proud of. And if it's like my other webers will last. Im very pleased with it so far and recommend it to anyone.

Gave up on electric smoker because I never could get the rich taste I was looking for - great choice this smoker is amazing! Easy setup holds heat wonderfully and the quality of bullet is better than anticipated. Have a Weber Genesis II gas grill so now my deck appears to be sponsored by Weber. The flavor of the meat was awesome and I was able to hold a steady heat for three hours with no problems. Great smoker for a someone just getting started smoking over charcoal.

I am very impressed with the Weber Smokey Mountain. Having never used one before, I just followed the instructions that came with it and on my first cook I got over 12 hours of smoking time!!! Without adding more fuel. Very easy and very impressive!

I've only used this twice but am impressed: once for a multi-hour smoking, once for grilling. Both turned out great. It's made for smoking but adjusts easily for grilling. The cover, included, makes it easy to protect the cooker. I've been a fan of this kind of smoking, with a water bath between the coals and the meat. I've had a couple of similar cookers but this Weber outshined both of them. I don't like briquets (too much ash) and use charcoal. Closing off the vents of this smoker, when the food is done, results in less ash with charcoal and, always, some left over which I use the next time.

I bought this for my dad for Father's Day and we've loved using this product. We've made pulled pork, ribs, and tritip. The smokey flavor with woodchunks is stronger then most restaurants I've been to. Cleanup is easy if you foil the water pan, and use some Easy Off BBQ spray on the grates.
If you're thinking of getting this for a griller don't hesitate to buy.

No tech works best. Very well built with quality material. After disappointing experiences with electric and forced air smokers I decided to give this no tech smoker a try. On my first cook I was surprised how easy it was to control the temperature and once set how consistently it was maintained.

First time Smoking Pork butts and shoulders on the Weber Smokey Mountain and could not be any more pleased with this bad boy! We did purchase a weber charcoal chimney with some paraffin cubes and the Weber blue tooth thermometer with a very easy to use free app that monitors your temps without having to open the grill losing heat. I have to tell you, the smell drifting throughout the back yard is incredible! After approx.12 hours we brought in to let it rest for around an hour then it was on! Love Love this thing! One more thing, we have a weber kettle grill that is almost 30 years old and is always stored outdoors, only replaced the top grills a few times. Still rocks!!! Thats Weber Quality.
