[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quick 2 person assembly using the packaging to support the screen then a few screws to affix the stand (total weight 28.5kg). Few things a must - connect via ethernet, update software and leave on auto update. For the T and C I selected ok to all, to tailor viewing recommendations. Out of the box settings were ok, but I decided to calibrate a few settings including turning energy saving mode off. When it comes down to it, its a matter of personal preference. I like changing the picture and sound mode depending on what I am watching.
In order to get the best out of the QNED I upgraded to Sky Q UHD and UHD subscription. Ensuring picture and audio settings are set to UHD, to prevent any compatibility issues. Popular apps - Netflix, Disney+ and Prime TV are shortcut buttons on the remote. We had to download YouTube as this is a family favourite. There’s a few 8k content on YouTube, all I can say is WOW! I know at the moment there’s not much 8k content out there, but at least with the QNED99 we are future ready. It is an affordable alternative to an OLED 8k version.
Currently the QNED is in a temporary position in our living room, however we will be moving to a conservatory extension (just in middle of DIY!). The slight matt screen will handle the bright light and reflections well. Also the seating in the conservatory will be forward facing. We found in the living room, the seat nearest to the the side of the TV slightly looses picture quality. Something we considered also is viewing height and distance (max 97.5”) from seating position.
Gaming experience with Xbox S Console and QNED Game Optimiser is a game changer! Picture and sound quality gives insane immersion into the gaming world - not only is my son impressed, we all are! Refresh Rate 120Hz and HDMI 2.1 x 4.
The gallery pictures is a nice touch, however I don’t think we will use this feature much. Maybe there’s an option to stream our own photo’s, if not - there should be!
The magic remote in our opinion a feels a little too light, it does take time to get used to. However controlling the QNED with LG ThinQ app is spot on! We have had the TV for a couple of weeks now and there still lots more to discover!
