I had my previous Philips Steam generator for 6-7 years and loved the features especially the fabric sensing. I had no hesitation in selecting another product. I have had ongoing faults with this model now for over 8 months. The service from Philips has been excellent - even repairing it and returning it within 2 days. However it is still causing problems and is now out of warranty.

I am a young single woman and this is not good enough me. I don't even iron that much, but I like pressed look. It's not really powerful enough to iron 100% Cotton denim (talking about the real workers denim. It keeps choking and spitting scale buildup since the first time I used it. Literally first time. It stains black clothes with the scale, so gotta be careful. I know water in London is hard, but come on? Do I have to clean this machine each time?

Also, like others mentioned, it steams more after you stop pressing. It really takes finesse and experience with this thing. I don't use it for anything I am not afraid to damage.

Love this more than my old version it genuinely doesn’t burn any material so easy to use

I have had a Phillips steam generator iron for man years until it stopped working. I purchased this iron as a replacement and it is not anywhere near as good. The problem is that it puts out a lot of water as well as steam and also does not stop steaming after the trigger is released. You can see the effects on the attached photos. I will be returning this for a full refund and choosing an alternative steam generator iron.

It’s been almost 2 months now I am using this iron. I don’t like the detachable bucket. It is low quality plastic and when I refill it I need to be very careful. Otherwise it is good. But I think attached water bucket steam generators are more better than this design.The feature I like the most is I can lock the iron .

Pleased with the overall ironing experience. My previous Philips Steam Generator used a filter, much to my annoyance Philips discontinued the filter: this product has no filter.

Why not 5 star? A couple of minor points.1, iron feels a bit insecure on the stand, you have to be sure you place it in the precise position. 2, issues a lot of steam when lifting away from garment, but that may be the way I am using it.

All in all it does the job very well.

Pleased with the iron, only downside to date is that it does drip & sometimes leaves streaks of water on clothes.

Purchased this iron to replace a previous Phillips model that we were very happy with for many years but had finally stopped producing steam. On first use of this iron the base unit containing the water flew off the worktop and smashed on the floor. On closer examination the rubber feet were missing from the base, so the bare plastic feet offered no resistance/friction to the work surface. Just the weight of the steam hose was enough to pull it off the worktop without any force being applied. It's either a design flaw or the unit supplied wasn't correctly assembled.

The old unit it's replacing has the expected rubber feet.

I brought this as it was reasonable in price and perfect for my needs as my previous iron packed up. Unfortunately was very disappointed as the water tank, I couldn’t remove no matter how much I tried. When I did manage it, skin on my hand was abraded. Tried again but couldn’t remove, too tight, stiff as anything so sent it back.

So easy to use and the automatic heat means you don’t burn anything. Out 2nd one of this type.

Having had a perfectcare iron which doesn't have a temperature control I wouldn't want anything else but this iron does have a few downsides! It steams more after you release the steam button than while you are actually pressing it! And there seems to be a problem when starting it up, the anti calc light often comes on but I can't get the de calc process to work so just have to turn it off and on again at the socket.

This product is well designed and the colour works well. However , I have an issue with the placements of the cord seems awkward which is quite annoying. Overall a good purchase.

I have always used Philips Steam Generator irons but this one is much faster and lighter to hold, really pleased with it.

Love my new iron, it replaced my older Philips generator iron that I had for approx 8/9 years. Not cheap but absolutely worth every penny

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using the perfect care compact steam generator iron has made ironing a whole lot more enjoyable. It heats up incredibly fast and breezes through linen, denim, even my thick curtains were crease free with very little effort. I love that I'm able to switch between ironing my delicate silk pillow cases and denim jeans in seconds. It's very lightweight and didn't make my arm sore even after 45 minutes of constant ironing. It is stored nearly away a d for take up much room in my cupboard. All in all this is a great iron and has made my life a whole lot easier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not one of those people that enjoys ironing, in fact I'm to polar opposite, but for the first time in my life I actually enjoy ironing now.

Getting set up the first time was incredibly easy, the instructions were really clear. The iron itself is light but so powerful. It took me a while to get used to standing the iron plate side down on the ironing board, it's very counter intuitive, but it holds to its word - no burns! It regulates its temperature so there's no dial to keep moving as you change fabric types. I did a huge pile of ironing including heavy linens and it just glided through it all perfectly and I didn't need to top up the water once. The iron locks into place on the base so you can carry it safely straight after use. The only issue I found was that the water pipe was a bit fiddly when trying to get it back in its place after use but this is no big problem.

I am astounded by the quality of the product and the performance of it. I highly recommend it, I could never go back now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The iron is a fantastic piece of kit, it is light and easy to move around the fabrics of the items being ironed (I have rheumatoid arthritis in both wrists and hands so I can struggle with other irons).

There was no snagging on the material like I have found with some other irons and not having to worry about changing the heat settings for all the different materials saves so much time.

The water tank is so easy to fill as you are able to detach it so no more back and forth with a jug.

The clip that holds the iron onto the base can be a bit temperamental at times and a bit fiddly to clip into place however this could of just been me struggling due to the arthritis in my fingers. However it is not anything that would put me off as I would always carry the iron holding the handle and base together just to be safe.

I had no issues with the water dripping from the iron when using or just moving aside while sorting out the bits I'm ironing.

Good amount of steam produced when ironing making it nice and easy to lift away those stubborn creases.

Stops the water getting stagnant and manky. No need to adjust heat I love using this iron. Get to heat very quickly looks great too.

I iron everything, I can not see ironed clothes, with this steam generator you can iron any type of fabric in one mode - it is suitable for everything (that's why it is called Optimal Temp).

Ironing it is just some kind of unreal buzz once or twice and it's ready . I fold in half the duvet cover and iron it, and there is no longer any need to go through the back side, respectively, ironing is accelerated 4 times! Knitted T-shirts, for example, I iron on only from one side and the back is all perfectly smooth. The nose of the iron is very convenient, it allows you to iron in hard to reach places.

RECOMMEND EVERYONE! Make your life easier - ironing becomes a quick and easy task

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially the size of a steam generator iron did put me off slightly, but the perfect care compact plus sits nicely at the end of my ironing board very safely and with no problems at all.

With the school starting up again, I was dreading the piles of shirts, uniforms and everything else that I was going to have to iron every week, but this iron has genuinely made everything so much simpler and faster. I would say it has helped me to cut ironing down by at least a third of the time.

The iron itself is quite light, which helps in speed, but mainly in stopping achy arms and wrist when ironing for such a long time. I love the fact that I can leave the iron on the ironing board and not worry about anything burning whilst I hang clothes in between, and the self descaling feature is brilliant. It is so simple and quick.

The only downside I have to the iron, is the locking button which locks the iron to the base. As the button is so near to the tip of the iron it isn’t always possible to click it down carefully until the iron has fully cooled. Apart from that this for me is the perfect iron.

The iron is light to hold (which being disabled was a bonus straight away). The removable water tank is also a great function, allowing you to actually take it to the tap, rather then trying to fill it up whilst attached to the iron like other models.

And most importantly of all is the fact that you save time ironing, as you don’t have to stop and wait for the iron to reach the temperature that you desire.

The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that you had to keep putting the iron on the base, as there was no way in which the iron stood up right. But after a while I did get used to placing the iron on the base whilst I folded or hanged the ironing up.

Overall a fantastic iron and would highly recommend this product. It’s not just great for not having to change the temperature, but makes ironing so much easier and quicker.

I can switch it on, mkae a coffee and get started on the dreaded pile.... Which I managed to iron with very little effort. I used to have to press my old iron down to get a half decent job done, but this phillips compactcare is totally effortless. I love the fact that it comes with a tray for easy cleaning too. Definitely recommend this beaut to make light work of your ironing load.
