Got this after I saw the reviews it does what is says ,this is a Very impressive shaver ,I have used a lot of elec shaver over the year but I find this is the only one I have found that shaves so close under the chin and around the neck area and all round gives a very very close shave

My previous shaver, SW9700, gave me the best shave so far and after two years it said it needed a new head. This regained a slightly better shave but then I saw the new SP9860... after three months I had the opportunity to buy one. I decided to wait a few weeks before reviewing as it alway seems to take a while for a new shaver to give its best shave.

While perhaps not a massive leap forward that I expected with its 15 times a second shaving ‘control’, better blades, nano paint and other improvements. For me it’s certainly an improvement over when I fitted my previous shaver with a new head. I shave once a day in the morning an it feels a noticeably closer shave while being more comfortable. I shave wet and now with even less high quality cream from a certain USA laboratory...

... the shave is so smooth I may even end up with no cream.

I thought it would be a downside not being able to use the Philips cleaning bath I’ve used for years. I guess down to the nano paint and improved blades cleaning under a hot’ish tap seems just as good, though takes a little longer.

As for the Qi non-contact charging - I successfully use this to charge my iPhone overnight in my bedroom and every 15 days or so I charge the shaver after use in the morning.

All in all I’m very pleased with it - hoping it lasts for many, many years to come....

Wow what a shave, as close as a wet without the hassle, well made, it feels as well as it looks, I am not usually one to make reviews but when something comes along like this it’s time to put mouse to paper.

Buy one you won’t be disappointed .....

Everything I wanted fantastic quality and feel when using it. Shaving is usually a chore but not with this it's quick and easy to use and it's the best shave I have had in years.

Used Phillips razors for the last 30 years this is absolutely brilliant

I use it every day, I've had it since Christmas and I've never loaded it, it's very handy and very precise, ergonomically too

I think it is possibly the closest shave I have ever had. Well worth the price tag!

I get a very smooth shave with this shaver. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of changing from a blade.

My only criticism is that the instructions for use are entirely pictorial and a bit hard to understand.

The Premium S9000 shaver is not just a beautiful piece of kit, it really does take wet & dry shaving to new heights. As a long-term devotee of the Philishave Coolskin, with integrated gel cartridges, I mourned when the battery finally failed on my last such shaver, and even reverted to manual shaving after unsuccessful attempts to re-adapt to new generation electric razors. I was rather hesitantly tempted into buying the SP9860 shaver after an unsuccessful attempt with an earlier 9000 version (spoilt by the cleansing station, which I found clunky and unnecessary). I also liked the design of the wireless pad, and hoped the new coating would make for a smoother shave.

To my surprise, the reality exceeded my expectations, and I am loving it. Inevitably, my skin has taken a week or two to get fully used to the new experience (especially the tender skin round the base of my neck), and I have been experimenting with various gels, foams, creams and brushed soaps, to see which works best for me. I am getting even better results than with my old manual razor (itself chosen after multiple trials), and am increasingly finding that I am able to have a comfortable dry shave with my new shaver, which I haven’t done for many a year.

My only reservations are 1) the size of the “travel pouch”, which is ridiculously large, and can only be justified when one is travelling on a long holiday with a large luggage weight allowance, and 2) the surprising absence of a protective cap, even for home use, but especially when travelling.

The shaver does fit in the smaller travel pouch available on the Philips website for other Philips shavers, and which I have now bought separately, but there are no caps available at all, which is a real pity, and I fear that the shaving heads will be damaged in flight etc., even if placed in the travel case.

Back on the plus side, the wireless charging pad works extremely well, and the quick charge function is genuinely very effective.

I am curious as to whether other wireless pads would work if one was caught short on a short business trip and hadn’t shipped the whole charging set-up with one... I must experiment at home. The pad is attractive and doesn’t take up much space (except when carried on the travel pouch!).

One day perhaps bathroom design will catch up with such pads (and other items of bathroom equipment) that require periodic charging, by fitting more discrete cable slots that don’t require multiple trailing cables for one’s shaver, toothbrush and flosser, etc.

It’d be great if they all came with a USB-C cable that could fit into separate USB-C slots either on the shaver socket or in a separate inlet, with the plug (as with this USB-A plug) only needing to be used if there were no slot for a USB-C cable.

Purchased the s9000 prestige best shaver I've owned. No effort required and really quiet.
