I have been using a Philips shaver for about ten years now and decided to go for a new one. The old one still works and after a few blade sharpenings with whetstones it was ok but a bit noisy and the battery was getting too old. It is a testament to Philips shaver’s longevity though.

I got the 8 series as it has the similar heads to the 9 series but with less bells and whistles.

It is much quieter than my old shaver and the quality of the shave is better and quicker.

The head assembly is easy to clean and it detaches for the other attachment, the ear and nose hair trimmer, which also works great.

It doesn’t offer some of the 9 series features like, pressure warning lights and shave assist advice but I really don’t see the point to that anyway.

The app that you can use with the shaver is a bit of a gimmick but does have one good feature.

It connects via Bluetooth to the shaver and informs you how many shaves you have left before the battery runs out. It does this by recording the times of each shave and averaging it out to determine how many more you potentially have depending on the battery power reserve.

I would buy this shaver again, which is high praise in my book.

After shaving daily for many years with a razor I have found the change to electric being easy and comfortable. Quick to use ease to clean and still feel like a clean shave without the burn on your face. Will not go back to wet shave again. Thank you

The manual, in diagram form, is impossible to understand. It is full of symbols with no explanation of what they mean. I've spent considerable time trying to understand it all. Why is no manual, with clear explanations, available?

I've been given the opportunity to test the new Philips 8000 series shaver And can honestly and positively say its the best electric Shaver I've ever used the quality of the razor is brilliant and is also a very good looking razor.you can use wet or dry I been using it wet with shaving gel for a more comfortable smoother shave. But if I'm I a rush I have a dry shave which is equally as good but seems to leave a few red blotches as I have very sensitive skin But 100% excellent shaving experience. Combined with the Bluetooth and the app you can keep track of your shaving experience with tips how to use different styles on different areas also gives you hints an tip tutorials. The shaver has a pop out trimmer, very handy. But I don't use as I shave my whole head bald and is as smooth as a baby's bum with this razor . I would definitely highly recommend this razor. I've used different makes in the past but this is far superior to what I've used . It's an excellent shaver. And thanks for the opportunity to test your product.

I'm really impressed with this electric shaver. I have previously used the Philips Series 9000 from the old range but this has been even better. I really enjoy the feel of this in my hand and I can get a lot of grip in the shower which is my preferred method for using it. I notice a lot less tugging on the skin despite a very close shave. I like the the trimmer is built in to make it very accessible as opposed to an attachment which I was used to from my previous Philips shaver. One thing you'll not notice but is very clever is how quickly it adapts your skin to provide the best shave you've probably ever had in your life.

Really impressive results wet and dry. I've honestly never had an electric razor give me such a close shave, I had to go over stubborn parts with a handheld razor previously, but not with this! The razor fits well in the hand, easy to hold, and the heads manoeuvre well to reach everywhere you want. I downloaded the app which advises on shaving time and technique (something I didn't realise I needed to improve!) Travel case and brush are nice extras. All in all, highly recommended this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I currently have an old Series 9000 shaver, so when I received this I was expecting something very similar, but maybe not as feature-rich - however I was thrilled to see this was not necessarily the case.

Shaving quality from the main shaver is good, although it would be nice to have speed options instead of a fixed speed - I find a lower speed helps with irritation.

The main downside to this shaver is the inadequate trimmer attachment fixed to the back of the shaver, it's just not fit for purpose. It doesn't lock into place when open, so just moves up and down when you're trying to shave, resulting in many pulled hairs - leading to noticeable pain. A separate attachment to connect in place of the rotary blades would be 1000% better. I rarely use these anyway, so doesn't affect me that much, but be aware of this if it's a feature you're looking for.

Overall, I'd say it's a good product, but not without it's issues - the massive RRP being one of them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quick Easy and Convenient. I have always used Philips shavers for over 40 years, except for a short period when I tried a foil shaver (which I didn't like). The 8000 series takes electric shaving to another level.

Quick - This shaver is super quick, taking under 3 minutes for a really good dry shave. In fact if you take longer the shaver links with an app on you phone and warns you if you've taken too long.

Efficient - This shaver is so smooth it almost feels like its not working as well as it could, but a quick rub on your face and you can feel how clean the shave has been.

Convenient - This shaver can be used in the wet with shaving foam if you really want to get the very best shave, but if you're in a hurry, a quick 3 min dry shave gives you a good clean shave without any mess.

Cleaning is simple and can be carried out regularly by just flipping the head and rinsing under a tap after each shave. This model comes with a charging base which can be used constantly or by topping up every few weeks. The app is an added bonus and gives you a guide on how to use this shaver more efficiently. It even warns you if you've not used the correct actions!

I would highly recommend this model as it the very best electric shaver I have ever used.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very impressed with the Philips 8000 Series shaver (model S8692). Having owned older shavers in the past this is a major improvement in design and performance. It’s actually bigger/longer in size compared to my past models but it feels very comfortable to hold. You now charge the device by USB-A which is how most tech is charged these days (you don’t get a power adaptor/plug as in the past so as long as you have USB ports available then it’s no issue). It charges quickly (1hr charge gives around 60 min run time) and the screen on the front shows the charging levels.

This model has Bluetooth connectivity so this is something new. You can download the Philips Daily Care app (from either Apple or Google) and after a few steps link the shaver to the app. The app shows you the battery level/how many shaves you have left, your usage history with time taken with your last shave. You can select guided shave to get real-time feedback as you shave. I tried this several times but even though I moved the shaver in circular motions on my face the app told me (at the end) I was using the incorrect motion together with the duration of shave being longer than the recommended 3 minutes. If you are daily shaving this is probably achievable but if your facial hair is a few days long then I don’t see how you can shave in 3 or less minutes. The shaver cuts well but I’m sure most people would use this longer than 3 minutes. The app also has a style mirror and tips for facial/body hair together with device settings. It’s nice to have the option of the app but I’m not sure it will get used a great deal. I’m unsure if the guided shave works unless it’s my own user error. I personally think I’m using the shaver correctly however.

Besides the shaver you get a decent zipped case with small cleaning brush and charging stand in the box. The shaver is very quiet in operation which is good and it cuts mostly first time. The shaving heads have many holes for the hair to be cut by. This means you don’t have to go over the same area twice (I have sensitive skin so this is a real bonus). The hair is collected inside the heads and it’s easy to open and empty/clean with water. There is a pop up trimmer on the side which can cut longer hair (sideburns etc). This part is a bit noisy to use compared to the shaver but a useful addition when required. You can use the shaver wet or dry (I only ever use dry so can’t comment when wet). I cannot fault this electric shaver (apart from the accompanying app) and now look forward to using it for a good close clean shave. Well done Philips, I’m a very satisfied customer and would recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a brilliant shaver. It gives a close and comfortable shave and I had no post shave irritation at all with this one.

Out of the box it comes well packaged and looks to be really high quality. The only negative thing for me was the use of plastic bags for all of the parts. It seems unecessary considering how good the cardboard packaging is. Along with the shaver is a charging cradle with USB cable, travel case and cleaning brush.

The shaver easily connects to the Philips GroomTribe app on mobile phones via Bluetooth - this has some really nice features like the guided shave. It monitors your shave in real time and gives you feedback and directs you to a better shaving technique. This was really useful for me as I have not used this style of shaver before and I found the diagram based instructions confusing and difficult to follow. The app also keeps a history of your shaves and has a link to Philips customer care.

I highly recommend this shaver, it is by far the best and most comfortable I have ever used.

No snagging / pulling of hairs at all - still leaves a perfect finish, even when in a rush in the morning! Really impressed with the quality and finish after the shave. Tried the wet shave for the first time for a laugh - again works really well, just not me, however in terms of cleaning, it's great, nice feature, the lid lifts to air dry quicker. Cracking battery life, neat charging station as well. So much better that my previous shaver of a similar style, different brand. Would highly recommend, a solid premium shaver. Added to father in law’s Christmas present list already!

However, I do think that the RRP is a bit too high for what the shaver offers, especially considering that there are other shavers on the market that will provide a similar shave for a fraction of the price.

One thing that I wasn't too impressed with was the app that comes with the shaver. While it does offer some basic functionality, such as indicating the charging percentage, I felt that it was mostly a gimmick and didn't really add much value to the shaver overall. In fact, I think that they should have implemented the charging percentage display directly on the shaver itself, rather than relying on the app.

I did also notice that the shaver did not provide as close of a shave as a conventional razor. This may not be an issue for everyone, but it's worth noting for those who prioritize a close shave.

The shaver is a nice design, easy to hold and lightweight. There is a nice display screen that shows you certain icons for modes, settings etc. you’ll need to look them up in the manual to understand them apart from the battery one, I got that one. Charging the shaver didn’t take very long and it comes with a nice stand to dock it in and a USB cable, which is a nice touch, however, if you’re like me and would prefer to keep your shaver in the bathroom, then it would have been nice to include an adapter, I understand the world we live in is aiming at reducing waste, but it would have been a nice touch to have. The shaver also has Bluetooth built into it, which we all adding Bluetooth makes anything better. This can then connect to the Philips GroomTribe app for hints, tips and keep a log of your shaving record, that’s something in life I didn’t know I needed. Now the performance of the shaver is outstanding, I experienced no irritation after shaving and it leaves my skin nice and smooth, if you follow the guides on the App you really can notice the difference. Now I’ve used this shaver for a few weeks now and the battery life has been great, and if you like to know the exact percentage of the battery the app will tell you. Now I haven’t tried to use it with wet skin as that is likely to leave your skin red after shaving, but other reviews of the 8000 S8692/35 Wet and Dry electric shaver have been positive. Overall, I have very pleased with this shaver, there is the option to purchase the cleaning pods for it, but I haven’t tried this yet, I’m sure they work well, I use to own an older model with a cleaning option, and I can only imagine it’s as good or better as I find Philips is a company that doesn’t go backwards. I would leave some photos, but other reviews have got plenty that would look the same as might. This is a great shaver, and I am sure you will be very happy with yours if you are going to purchase one.

This product not only gave me a close tight shave but taught me how to do it properly and whilst learning through the app it it learned with me and it became the most comfortable shave I've had after the 3rd attempt.

I really enjoyed using it but at the start it was a little nippy but that changed when I found out to actually shave my stubble. Really good product and support 9.5/10
