[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This P1 upgrade replaces my nearly 6 year old X1 Extreme Gen 1. This is my 4th Thinkpad.
The screen height increased from 7.6" to 8.5". Although the difference in height is less than an inch, it makes a big difference. The overall feel is solid and rugged. There are a sufficient number of USB-A and USB-C ports, as well as an HDMI and 1/8" headphone/mic jack.
Literally the only knock I have is the keyboard. It's still very good, but the key travel has been reduced, just a tiny bit, but enough to notice the difference. It's still a solid, comfortable keypad worthy of a Thinkpad.
It's user upgradable I've already added a second M.2 drive. Easy to do, followed online instructions. Memory is also upgradable, should the need for that arise. Lenovo has plenty of documentation on the web site.
I also appreciate the Lenovo Vantage app for settings and updates, such as BIOS. Lenovo provides these for years after original purchase.
There are plenty of excellent YouTube reviews that go into the specs and features in depth. It's pointless to try to duplicate that information here. I will simply say I bought a P1 because I wanted a solid, comfortable, high performing laptop that will give years of dependable service. That's what Thinkpads have always been known for, and that's what puts them in a class by themselves.
In conclusion my P1 is definitely a Thinkpad through and through. I wouldn't even consider buying anything else.
