As a long standing, dedicated wet shaver, I decided to try a Philips rotary shaver. I had a bad experience many years ago when I tried a foil type shaver. It gave me dreadful razor burn. Not so with the Philips S9983/55. It gives a really close shave with no nasty razor burn. Battery life is really good too - I only charge it on average once a week, but that obviously depends upon the duration of each shave. The cleaning pod works really well, leaving fresh scent when the cycle is complete.

I broke with the traditional Philips razor and tried this totally different razor to what I was use to. Know need to have worried, it's brilliant.

Having used a wet shave for several years, I have been very pleasantly surprised as how good a shaver this is.

It gives a very close shave every time....just as good as a wet shave.

I would recommend it to anyone.

Very close and comfortable shave, and a more powerful battery means it is also a lot quicker on the job.

This has changed my view of electric shavers. Previously I regarded an electric shaver as ‘second best’ with regard to performance and only used one while travelling. My new Philips shaver shaves so close that it is a good alternative to wet shaving. However I am still struggling to understand how to use the cleaning gadget.

Olen käyttänyt vuosia Philipsin partakoneita ja päädyin ostamaan uuden 9000 sarjan koneen vanhan (myös 9000) tilalle. Laite on iso pettymys, muutaman päivän sänki ja kone "taistelee" urhoollisesti, mutta tuntuu lähinnä nyhtämiseltä. Rajain, joka on integroitu koneeseen, ei pysy leikkaavassa asennossa, koska se ei lukitu yläasentoon minkä lisäksi terä on a. pieni ja b. leikkaa huonosti.

Philips mahdollistaa "money back guarantee" palautuksen, jos palautat koneen itse pakattuna (jos säilytät pahvilaatikon), ja lähetysohjeet ovat hyvin tarkat - poikkeaminen millimetrinkään verran niistä johtaa, ettei sinulla ole konetta eikä rahoja ole palautettu. Nyt on aika heittää keräykseen tuo 9000 ja hakea Braun tilalle.

Olen koko aikuisikäni käyttänyt partahöyliä. Aikoinaan kokeilin halpoja sähköpartakoneita, mutta ne jäivät hyllyyn pölyttymään. Ajotulos oli höylään verrattuna huono ja iho ärsyyntyi. Nyt ajattelin panostaa laatuun ja en ole katunut. Ajotulos on erinomainen, eikä iho ärsyynny. Voit ajella vaahdon kanssa tai kuivana ja koneen saa puhdistettua asemassa helposti. Jos on kiinnostunut käyttämään applikaatiota, voi kokeilla ohjattua parranajoa. Applikaatio kertoo onko terä sopivasti painettuna ja onko tehty pyörivää liikettä. Hinta on suhteellisen korkea, mutta niin on myös laatu.

Best electric razor I've ever used close shave and really simple to clean

Shaves even better than my old Phillips shaver which I was also delighted with.

Overall excellent product - the shaver is extremely effective, no longer use a wet shaver at all. A specific improvement is that the cleaning pod would benefit from a secure lid to seal it when not in use.

My previous electric shaver was a philips aquatouch which still works but unfortunately i cant find philips replacement heads so I didn’t want to buy any other ones, was happy with the aquatouch one and thought this should be even better considering the price.

So far very happy with the series 9000 which I expect will work as good as the aquatouch. I haven’t got a lot of facial hair but the series 9000 does it’s job well. The pressure sensor I think is wrong in some of the areas where it gets a little bit uncomfortable if you want to keep it on green but it’s not a big problem, just don’t apply the pressure the shave recommends and you will be just fine. I always used the electric shavers on dry so I don’t really know how it works on wet skin. Shaving does get better the more you use it, like philips states.

Not very happy with the fact that it doesnt come with a protective cover for the head of the shaver considering its quite expensive, i guess that should come with the shaver like my old one…

Battery holds well, depending on how long it takes you to shave and it has a nice charging stand.

I have been using this shaver since March 2022 after replacing my S9041 used since 2014. Sadly saying, the new design of Philips 9000 shavers is worse compared to the old hadle.

The new handle is too bulky, and now at the back of the handle is a trimmer attached. This trimester is unfortunately usles. I don't really understand the idea of making this shaving combo.

A big disappointment is also the new cleaning station without drying function as it was on the old series. Don't take me wrong; the cleaning station is doing its job, but the lack of drying and charging functions is a step back.

In my opinion, new series should be USB-C ready. It is a shame that none of the Philips shavers in the 9000 range, including the 9000 prestige, do not have travel cases with wireless charges, as Sonicare toothbrushes have. Having a travel case with USB-C for the shaver will be something.

As for me, the new shaver became disappointing; I still prefer to use the old 9000 shaver instead of the new one.

The shaver gives a good close shave and without irritation.

Replaced my braun series 9 - far superior shave very surprised

This is a great shaver. Unfortunately, it stopped working after about 9 months. It's taken over a month to get a replacement.

A real close shave. Feels good. Nothing else to say.

I would never have considered spending so much on any shaver but my wife insisted & I am delighted. It’s so easy to use & always produces a comfortable shave. The display tells me everything I need to know & the shaver can be ‘locked’ when travelling to avoid accidentally wasting the charge. I can clean it with water or the cleaning unit containing the liquid solution. This shaver has everything & I’m spending less time shaving thanks to its efficiency. I’m totally impressed & would recommend it to anyone. It’s a joy to use!

Gives a great shave time after time and it holds a charge well so you get plenty of shaves between recharging. The 9000 is comfortable to hold & the coloured shave ring gives you a good indication of the pressure you’re using so you get it just right. I do also like ths5 I can use it wet or dry.

The shave takes between 2 and 3 minutes, I use a daily dry shave and the result is an excellent shave

Very happy with the shaver's performance, but the absurdly minimalist instructions make the infamous Ikea instruction sheets look positively encyclopaedic! I still have absolutely no idea what some of the symbols on the shaver's screen mean, and no idea how to tell when the cleaner cartridge is empty, now what to do when it is. Meanwhile, the GroomTribe app is an absolute nightmare to install, and pretty useless when you finally succeed.
