Love the TV. The picture quality is excellent. Sound really good for such a slim tv

As a newlywed who’s just settled into our first home, finding the perfect TV to enhance our entertainment experience has been a top priority, especially since gaming and watching sports are huge parts of our lives. The 65-inch OLED screen is a game-changer. The self-lit pixels deliver perfect blacks and vibrant colors, making every scene—from the dark, atmospheric landscapes in video games to the fast-paced action of a football match—come to life with incredible realism. This TV isn’t just about watching; it’s about fully immersing ourselves in the experience. Gaming on this TV is phenomenal. With 4K resolution at 120Hz, gameplay is ultra-smooth, with no motion blur, which is crucial during intense gaming sessions. The Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and G-Sync compatibility ensure there’s no screen tearing or stuttering, making for an incredibly immersive gaming environment. The low input lag is a game-changer, especially when milliseconds can make the difference between victory and defeat. It feels like this TV was made to meet the needs of serious gamers like me. When it comes to watching sports, this TV truly excels. The high refresh rate ensures that even the fastest-moving action is sharp and clear. A very special TV. Amazing picture. Easy to install

TV output really good, however, it needs to find a way of coexisting with other equipment, currently we are juggling controls whereas our old samsung was easily controlled form the Sky remote

This is our 2nd OLED from LG – this time to replace our ageing 6-year-old TV in the lounge. Although considered the entry-level model, don’t let that tagline fool you; this TV offers astonishing picture quality. Our first OLED made us watch all our favourite movies again (a strong litmus test for the picture quality). The 2024 model is no different, with our two little ones now refusing to watch their shows on any other telly in the house. Our 6-year-old TV was a heavy, chunky 50” beast with a thick protruding border around the screen. This 65” OLED is slimmer, lighter, and far more petite than it has a right to for its size, thanks to its borderless screen edge. Design-wise it is a thing of beauty and remarkably unobtrusive considering its size. Saying that, we did note that as a stand mount it did not fit on our TV unit at all. The stands are positioned at the end of each side of the telly meaning you need a pretty wide TV unit to stand this on. It was only a short-term problem for us as we've since wall-mounted it—but it is something to be aware of if your primary decision is the stand mount option for your room.

If planning to attach the TV to the wall, consideration should be taken to the type of wall bracket purchased. The HDMI 3 (eARC/ARC) connection in particular is located on the back of the TV—along with the HDMI 4, optical digital out and LAN—instead of at the side. This can be a pain to access and/or use with a fixed slim mount or flush wall mount. Ensure you have a right-angle adapter or cable if exploring this mount option to avoid any frustrations.

At < 20 kgs this TV is very light for its size – which does help eliminate any anxiety around attempting a wall mount without the worry of it falling off. (It was so light I was able to wall mount this on my own with minimal effort).

If burn-in is one of your worries then the good news is this is becoming far less of a concern these days. Our 2022 model was quite aggressive in the way it handled this problem with the screen saver coming on almost immediately on non-use. The 2024 model has adopted a far more relaxed approach to none use—to the point that my aforementioned anxiety was triggered quite a few times during the first 2 weeks of use when I noticed my screen was still showing a paused movie instead of the customary screen saver after popping out to make a cup of coffee. If LG are less concerned about burn-in, then so should you be.

Overall a great purchase.

This TV replaced another brand, a quantum dot Q60 50" TV. The Q60 lasted 3 years and 8 months, yes I know this only had a 1 year warranty, but is 3 years 8 months really fit for purpose? Reading other reviews I found there were lots of people having issues with the Q60, based on that I decided I needed to switch brand. As the OLED prices have dropped, I decided to review these. Checking reviews I could find no viable difference with the LG OLED B42 vs B46 so went for the B42. A lot of reviews I found detailed that brightness was not as good as other type of TV, this nearly put me off, but having purchased I'm not sure why brightness is an issue, as this TV is bright enough for me, I've had to turn this down.

I use this set to watch TV with Freesat and Freeview,and to stream from a cloud based media player I'm not a gamer so can't help there.

Easy to setup, light enough for one person to handle..

4 HDMI ports - I used a AV to HDMI adapter for an old external device This also uses a USB port to provide power.

I hate True motion (Soap Operas mode) so turned that off for each input source, the LG settings menu is easy to navigate to turn this off. The home menu is also far better than the Q60.

TV channels that broadcast old programmes in SD, upscaling to larger format is quite good.

HD broadcasts - Great picture.

4K input - Wow.

After tweaking settings for my preferences, I have to say OLED is so much better than anything I've owned before. A test for me although you could say is pointless is the credits at the end of a programme, my old OLED was jittery and these weren't clear, this TV is great at motion smoothing and that's with True Motion switched off.

Sound - Can't advise as I use a basic sound bar rather than the TV speakers, the good thing though is I can now use the soundbar in Bluetooth mode, I couldn't do that before with the Q60 as every time you turned on the TV you would have to change the TV settings to output to the Bluetooth speaker, this TV auto finds the speaker on start up. The benefit hear for me is that the Freesat remote and TV remote both adjust the same volume, rather than a separate Freesat and TV volume setting.

The remote is very well balanced, I find a lot of remote are heavy and one end and always fall of the sofa, but this one is great.

I also have a WDCloud with a Twonky media player, the TV finds the Twonky Media Player automatically, big relief as I could not find any reviews that said media players work with this TV.

One week in, and I'm so pleased with this TV, best picture I've ever had and all external devices play ok.

Two minor niggles,

1. Freesat box will not turn on via Arc HDMI, but it turns off.
2. Bluetooth sound bar will not turn off with the TV, but it turns on. (The speaker turns off after 15 minutes of no input so not a deal breaker).

My new 65" LG OLED (65B42LA) is excellent on all fronts. I had read reviews before I ordered online and they were all positive and now I can see why.

The installation and setup was easy and the settings were very user friendly.

The picture quality is truly amazing with vibrant life-like colours and true blacks. The Dolby Vision and AI upscaling do their job magnificently, whether it be watching TV, a movie or playing games on my console.

The sound is fantastic with Dolby Atmos as well as AI surround sound. The acoustics fill the room when watching the TV or listening to music.

The smart TV interface is great with web browser, games, free LG channels and built-in Alexa. There are many more features which I look forward to trying very soon.

The upgrade from my previous 55" UHD curved screen to this outstanding 65" LG OLED has been well worth it. I would recommend this to everyone.

The LG OLED 65B42LA is an amazing TV, sure to please all but the most demanding buyers. The very good brightness, HDR makes it well-suited to watching anything, from TV content to the latest hit movies in HDR. It has superb reflection handling, and with its good peak brightness, the TV can handle bright rooms or glare without issue. But like almost every OLED on the market, it's better suited for a dark room, where its OLED panel, with its deep inky blacks, truly performs at its best. Its very low input lag makes it a gamer's dream, as your inputs are translated almost instantaneously to the screen, and its superb response time makes it a great choice for any fans of fast-moving content, be it sports or games, as action stays clear and crisp throughout. As soon as I hooked up my console to the LG 65B42LA , which does support 4K 120Hz – I loaded up some games and noticed an immediate difference in the picture quality. It was night and day. Textures, light, colors are more realistic. You may think these differences are relatively minor, but they made my gaming experience that much more immersive and, ultimately, more enjoyable The TV also supports DTS, making it a fantastic choice for your home entertainment center, in combination with the LG soundbar and the WOW orchestra option you feel like you are in a movie or a game because the sound surrounds you from every side.

One of the best tvs I've bought. Really good picture.

Coming from a TV with a simple straightforward set of menus that were easy to navigate to WebOs3 was a disappointing shock. Use of a "mouse" that can be described as inaccurate at best to point at small icons lacks common sense. "Just because you can does not mean you should" is so applicable to this OS. Why do I have to navigate via the tv guide through filters to change an input?? There is an input button on the remote but you cannot change from Freesat to Freeview through that despite the fact they are different "inputs". Daft. I have yet to find any aspect of the WebOs that improves on more basic, less pretty, but fundamentally better text based menus. The developers are writing these things for tech savvy folk and ignoring the people who hate tech and just want to watch a picture with sound. I know many elderly people that simple could not cope with this OS, maybe LG should offer a choice of simple but effective menus or a full graphic UI at the time of setup. As far as doing what a TV needs to do is concerned, the Picture is awesome after you have tuned it to your eyes and environment, the sound is good, again this needs some tweaking to suit the room and ears of the users. Neither easy tasks with the WebOS and mouse.

It's a lovely TV with a great picture and sound. But it is quite complicated, when it comes to setup and use. Menus are popping up all over the place although finding what you want within the menus requires a google search half the time! Also there is no RCA
