I have been shaving with the Philishave brand for 60 years.

This latest model really does what the advertising claims. Definitely the best closest shaves I have had.

My only criticism is not related to the shaver itself but to the cleaning device. The refill jars of cleaning fluid have a screw top that does not fit onto the cleaning device. Thus when not in use there is no way of covering the open pot to prevent evaporation or dust ingress.

Excellent Close shave and step up from my previous 9000 shaver. Generally use the sensitive setting and getting used to the app

Certainly the best electric shaver I have ever had, it is as close as using a razor, the charger is excellent pop the shaver in and forget it. The item is expensive but you pay for the best.

The razor provides a great close shave and leaves my face feeling great. I would recommend the razor but when it’s on offer like I did as it’s quite expensive.

This shaver is just fantastic, it has a nice feel in the hand and so quiet when shaving. The connected App is great because it teaches you how to use the shaver correctly reducing skin irritations. I like the cleaning module because cleaning is always an issue with build up of shavings with this type of shaver. The price is extravagant but worth it.

Quality of build and supreme efficiency has to be tried to understand just how good it really is, not only an unbelievably close shave, but it cleans itself and recharges without a mains connection via its its own power bank and UV steriliser storage case.

The Shaver is good but the main charging unit is large and heavy. The cleaning unit could be better and the cleaning liquid does not last very long

The i9000 Prestige Ultra is a brand-new arrival in Philips’ range of shavers.

Unboxing was a pleasant experience, as if I were unveiling something of quality. It comes in a stylish box with black inserts for the various parts and accessories:

• The shaver itself
• A hard, fabric-covered, zipped storage case
• The triple shaver heads
• The trimmer attachment
• The charger/stand base unit
• USB charger cable
• Cleaning brush
  
  

My first impression of the shaver’s looks was its futuristic, high-tech appearance, while at the same time combining a traditional, friendly aesthetic.

The ON switch, with the familiar ⏻ symbol, is positioned front and centre on the main body. One click brings it to life: the information screen lights up, the ring glows a gentle blue, and the three cutting blades begin spinning. Quite an introduction.

The status display just below the ⏻ button shows various details, including charge level and cutting mode. It’s easy to read without being distracting.

Immediately below the display is the function button. Each click switches between various options on the screen, and holding it for two seconds allows the settings to be changed. These include language, pressure and motion feedback, and a QR code to scan with your smartphone.

Charging can be done in one of two ways: by plugging the cable directly into the lower end of the shaver or by placing it upright onto the charger stand. The latter is by far the most convenient, provided you can keep the base unit near a USB port.

The glowing ring beneath the shaver heads is not just for cool, cutting-edge (pun intended) looks—it also serves a practical purpose, changing colours according to the level of pressure applied:

• Blue – Too little pressure
• Green – Just right
• Amber – Too much pressure
  
  

It also acts as a guide to the recommended circular motion of the shaver heads on your skin, rather than linear strokes.

There is a free Philips app called GroomTribe, which pairs with the shaver via Bluetooth. It contains a wealth of information, including shaving history (with dates, times, and duration) and even a graph showing your shaving performance over time. Quite in-depth if you want to take your shaving routine to another level.

This is a wet and dry shaver, so it can be used with foam or gel and rinsed under a running tap for cleaning. My top two priorities are always comfort and closeness. Considering that this is a brand-new shaver with brand-new blades, it is about as comfortable and close as you can get. The blade covers have a silky texture, providing a gentle gliding sensation across the skin, and after shaving, my skin feels very smooth with no stubble.

Overall, this is an excellent, top-of-the-range product with just about all the tech bells and whistles you could hope for. If it’s in your price range, I would definitely recommend it.

This review is for the model XP9404/46 with a UV case.

Warranty: Be aware that you need to register your shaver on the Philips website within three months of purchase to receive a 7 year warranty. Otherwise, you will only have the standard 2 year warranty. This can be easily overlooked.

I have previously used the model S9041/12 and the model S9987/59 with Bluetooth. I also had the opportunity to try the model 9000 Prestige gen2 with wireless charging pad (and was disappointed).

This model has some changes over the older Prestige and other angular shape shavers from S9000 range.

The new Prestige handle is the same size as the S9000 series: This is a significant change from the older Prestige series, which had a smaller, more compact handle.

While the size is the same as all S9000, the shape of the Prestige Ultra handle is different from the S9000 series, which might make it feel better in your hand.

Unfortunately, handle it is made from plastic, just like the 9000 Prestige generation 2 (generation 1 was made from metal, giving the shaver a real premium feeling).

The main difference and a huge step-up is the redesigned shaving head - smaller. It is no longer so large at the edge and is more familiar in size to the old round shape (see pictures). This is a very important and welcome improvement, as it shaves much better around the nose. While the new shaver's head isn't as good as the older in my opinion (rounded ones), it's a significant improvement over the previous angular design.

The shaving blades are the same as those used on previous 9000 models (SH91/50 as of this review).

This model benefits from a travel case with charging functionality and a UV sanitizing lamp. That's awesome! It's great to have a case that can charge your shaver and keep it clean while you're on the go. However, the travel case is heavy, nearly 500 grams — WOW! In my opinion, it's more of a home case than a travel case. However, it has its own battery, so it will charge your shaver during the trip. But I like very much the UV lamp!

Charging socket it is not USB-C! It uses a generic USB-A to Philips plug cable. During travel, you obviously can't use the cleaning station, so the UV lamp will sanitize your shaver instead – trust me, it's important to have a bacteria-free shaving head.

However, the built-in battery, can be a concern when flying, as it may be classified as a power bank. This means you'll need to carry the case in your hand luggage - not Ryanair bag policy friendly :)

The external coating of this case is made from plastic that imitates leather, giving it a similar feel to the Sonicare Prestige travel case.

The shaver also comes with a redesigned cleaning station (used across all i9000 series). The bottom part of this station is made from glossy plastic, and any scratches will be very visible. Hoverer, the old one will fit the new Prestage Ultra shaver, and also opposite.

I still prefer the very old cleaning station with the drying function over the new one, as it takes a much longer to dry out the shaving head. This model doesn't include the new charging stand with LED ring (a shame, but probably can be purchased separately in near feature as spare. If yes, I will definitely get one). However, it will work with old charging stand.

accessories from a S9987 (AC40/01 nose trimmer) but it will fit to the Ultimate shaver, so if you already have some, you don't need to buy new ones (is crap anyway)

The new handle will also fit the old travel pouch.

In summary, if you're a traveller, this Philips model is for you as the travel case is a must-have (that long you are not travelling light). If you only shave at home, the standard model will be more suitable. Overall, I'm happy with the new shaver, apart from the price (it cost the same as an economy return flight ticket from the UK to the US !).

If you have an older shaver with a rounded shaving head, it's worth upgrading. If you have the angular series shaver (Prestige 2 or 9000) and you're a traveller, I would consider seriously to upgrade. UV travel case is the strongest benefit of this shaver. For everyone else, you won't fully utilize the benefits of this model and will stick with not so overpriced model.

If you have never used a Philips shaver before, or you have used an entry-level Philips shaver, this one should meet your expectations in terms of shave quality. A 7 year warranty is a rare benefit these days, especially for something that isn't a car.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m going to start this review by saying that for me, shaving is a bit of a sore point, quite literally! I cannot use manual razors because my beard can get so coarse that a manual razor only lasts for one shave, and considering these are quite expensive, its just not worth my time. This is the reason why I aways use an electric razor, and because of that, I’ve had several over the years, and i can honestly say this is the best one i have ever used.

My first impressions on getting the shaver out of the box was wow. This is clearly a well made, robust product and it feels premium in my hands. There are so many little touches that Philips have implemented from the app, which guides you in shaving for the best finish and displays shaver status like remaining battery and how long it will be before the blades need changing, to the charging stand which has very cool white LED ring on its base which circle when charging and as the charge completes, the illuminated circle gets bigger and bigger, to the shaver wishing you a good morning/afternoon when you pick it up.

On downloading the Philips GroomTribe app, connecting the shaver to the app was child’s play. It even detected that the shaver needed a firmware update and downloaded this and installed it right away bringing further improvements and more value. The app has 3 sections. ‘Home’ where you will see the status of your shaver, such a battery life, and a few personalisation options, and real time guidance in your shaver. ‘Discover’ is full of articles to have you get the best out of your shaver covering everything from Skincare to how to look after your shaver to keep it working at optimal performance. The 3rd section is for support where you can see FAQ’s of the shaver, support options for your particular model and even the option to contact support. You can even chose to shave without having the app open and the shaver will update the app later. Pretty cool eh?!

My previous shaver was of the foil variety, and was terrible with longer hairs, it felt as though the shaver was ripping the hairs out of my face instead of cutting them and it hadn’t even asked for its blades to be changed yet.

With this new Philips Ultra prestige, I don’t experience any of that and it makes for a much more pleasant shaving experience. What I do experience with this shaver is honestly, quite easily the best shave I have ever had. First off, it doesn’t sound and feel like its shaving a strip of Velcro which my previous foil shaver did which is always a good sign that the shave is going to be a pleasant one.

I have also noticed that as i use the shaver more and more, I'm getting better at it and the app is reflecting this which is great as there is nothing worse than that burning post shave and redness.

This shaver is equipped with several different modes for shaving and this is changed using the button at the bottom of the screen. You can switch between Normal, Sensitive, Intense and it even has a foam mode so you can shave in the Shower using shaving foam. How awesome is that!

The one minor niggle for me with this shaver is that there is no pop up trimmer, but instead a separate head. Like i say, it’s only a minor niggle, but this my my genuine and honest thoughts so it must be included. I liked being able to pop up the trimmer Whilst shaving, do some detailing and the carry on. This is icing a very minor niggle, and thee benefits this shaver brings far outweigh this.

Would I recommend this shaver?? Yes, absolutely I would. It’s a very impressive piece of equipment and absolutely love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra XP9405/11 is a decent shaver, but nothing special. It gives a comfortable shave, and the SkinIQ Pro tech helps it adjust to your face. The wet and dry feature is useful, and the battery life is reliable. That said, the shave isn’t noticeably better than other shavers out there, and you can find similar options without much difference in performance.

It has great features like a pressure light when shaving to ahow you are applying the correct pressure to get the best shave. There is no hair pull on long or short hair I was extremely smooth. Has a great app we're you can connect to your phone and gives you so much more information on how you are shaving.the shaver charges up fast and comes with a good charging Dock and good hard travel case to protect the shaver. Phillips are renowned for having innovative and exciting technology products on the market and this one does not disappoint. From when I open the packaging to using it for the first time I was blown away by the smart, comfortable and precision that I have received when shaving. When shaving it allows me to have a close shave that is comfortable and doesn’t provide skin irritation even on sensitive skin. The three components allow the blades to travel safely but closely across large patches of my skin which makes my shaving experience quick effective close and comfortable. It also allows me to have closely designed sideburns and allows for close precision shaving around tricky areas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shaver looks very stylish out of the box, and had some charge to get going right away (charger included of course). I've only had to charge it once having had it a few weeks, so the battery life appears great.

Also comes with a handy hard shell case....great to traveling without fear of damaging it.

The included user manual is very basic and a bit confusing i found (see attached photo). I tried to find more comprehensive user manual on Philips website with no luck. I think I've worked it all out myself after a while.

I found this shaver to be a closer shave than previous tri-headed shavers I've used, and is very ergonomic in the hand. Feels natural to use. However it does seem to suffer the same issue that other similar tri-head shavers have: it is a real struggle to properly shave above the top lip/ below the nose, and at times I've had to get a traditional manual razor to complete this area.

There are a few different settings of shave, from sensitive to intense. Which I found great as I have a sensitive face so I always worry these shavers are going to rip my face off, if you see what I mean. Very few uncomfortable niks or pulls on the skin. It's a wet and dry model so you can apply lotion if that's your thing.

The digital display will let you know if you are shaving in the correct way......so that's the pressure you're applying and whether shaving in a circular motion.

Display will also let you know when it's time to give the shave heads a clean, which is particularly useful for me with my terrible memory.

There is an accompanying Philips shaving app available to download, however for some reason I was unable to download and use it. It seems the app will give you your shaving statistics and advice on shaving. Like I say though, I wasn't able to road test it myself. I will keep trying.

Shaver also came with a trimmer attachment for sideburns etc, but it would have been better if it was built in to the unit itself,........I can imagine the attachment getting misplaced easily.

Overall an excellent product, just a little bit of a shame that the top lip difficulty hasn't been mastered yet.

It has different programs which as far as I can see change the rotation speed of the blades. I enjoyed the light with pressure control. Came with a flashy charging station/cable, travel pouch and trimmer which is interchangeable with the shaving head. A great upgrade to my previous shaver.

On the shaver it says Made in Netherlands, not sure if everything is produced and assembled in Europe but certainly a difference to the usual Made in China of cheaper electric products.

From a sustainability perspective I like the long guarantee and that the packaging of product and accessories was cardboard/paper.

To begin with a clean shaved with now my old shaver. I was interested with their 7 day shave claim so I waited the 7 days but my facial hair does grow quick, so I was abit apprehensive about this claim... but I was wrong. Even on a non foam shave it was clean and no iritation.

My preference was a 4 day shave with foam gave me the best results. Smoothest shave since I had a hot towel cut throat razor shave for my wedding

Quick charge on the shaver incase you forget to charge it like I did. Unable to try it with the App as it wasn't finding the new shaver.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right out of the box, it's clear that this is a high quality product. The construction is extremely solid, with an impressive use of premium materials which give it the look and feel of a true luxury product. It fits well in the hand too.

Also included are a couple of useful accessories, including a charging dock, and a travel hard case, both of which are also good looking and solid. I really appreciated the use of a USB charger cable, however, there is no included wall plug. I already have a 2-pin to USBA plug, but if you don't, you'll have to charge outside of the bathroom, which is a minor inconvenience. It also uses a bespoke plug on the shaver end, so I have yet another cable to potentially lose. I really wish this came with a USBC port instead.

I've been using various electric shavers and trimmers for many years now, and have come to expect somewhat poor performance from anything promising a close shave. I prefer not to use a razor as my skin is sensitive, so whenever I need a close shave, I end up disappointed. Not so with this one! The i9000 gives the quickest and cleanest shave I have ever had from an electric shaver, hands down.

The advanced features are interesting, but not essential to getting good results. I did appreciate the advice on using the correct pressure and motion, and have found it did improve the consistence of my shaving, and ultimately the results.

All in all, this is a capable and premium shaver which is better than anything I have ever used before. Highly recommended.
