[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not an awful product. Does as intended. Wish the Ethernet cable was held a little better but other than that a great product.
I personally prefer to connect to LAN, when available, than to a WiFi. I would of course prefer a stationary LAN port on my ThinkPad, but this one is an OK alternative too, because it uses a dedicated port and leaves free the valuable USB ports.
It does not fit the Thinkpad so why would you sell an adapter that is not compatible. The Ethernet end is correct; but the adapter cannot be inserted into the Thinkpad because the end does not fit.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works as advertised with my X1 Carbon Gen 6. Just plugged it in and I was connected. Works just fine with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a USB-A at the same time. It seems to be faster using my ethernet, but my computer may have had some mix-up configuring it with auto configure on Windows. It was very slow at first.
Now that most laptop adapters do not come with Ethernet ports, this was greatly needed to first get our laptop on the network.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great, very simple. I wish it had been suggested on the pc product page
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works perfectly and responds like an onboard NIC when your laptop doesn’t have one and doesn’t waste a USB port like most dongles
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent dongle to handle the occasional need to test or use wired ethernet.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does what it says, allow a wired Ethernet connection on my Thinkpad X1 Carbon. It uses the laptop's own network controller and doesn't hog one of my USB C ports. I don't like that it's a weird proprietary connector, where I'm up a creek if they ever stop making it and the first one breaks. Or if it is going to be proprietary, they should have included one in the box with my $2000 computer.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this so that I can program cameras with my laptop. It works great.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit was useless and had to be returned. It is not compatible with the P1 Gen 2 despite what the Lenovo web site indicated.
This garbage often stops working with "Tx status -71" on Linux. Don't buy this overpriced piece of crap, buy TP-LINK UE306 instead - it's 2,5x cheaper and rock-solid.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a bit expensive, but it enables my Carbon to be connected to an ethernet line. It's small enough to be packed in my backpack, but also small enough to lose if you are not careful, as I did with my first one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] works great, uses a dedicated port that you wouldn't be able to use for anything else
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well and shows the Ethernet attributes in the OS as it should.
It is unthinkable that a proprietary port is designed in a way to block the use of the c-USB port right next to it. Better spend money on faster WI-FI or cheep c-USB/Ethernet adapter, at least c-USB/Ethernet adapter will have use beyond your current ThinkPad.
The first one was damage and was able to get a replacement very quick
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Simple adapter and simple to use. It was just plug and play on my Thinkpad running Linux (opensuse tumbleweed).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works great on my laptop. I was plugging an ethernet cable straight to the computer and the connection wasn't as stable and if the cable move, it presented an issue.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] works great. fast connection and allow me to disable wifi and all the EMF's that come with it. great product!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Would have been nice to have another USB-C port instead of a proprietary port
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great with my X280. It's easy to install and use.
Does not fit when using the usb c port next to it to connect to an external display
